HANSHI
DARRELL LAFRANCE

Hanshi Darrell LaFrance is the founder and Chief Instructor of Kumo Jiu Jitsu. He is ranked as a 9th degree black belt by the Sokeship Council under the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame and has been training in martial arts for over 50 years. Hanshi LaFrance has travelled the world teaching and sharing his knowledge openly with many schools as well as pioneered the first free-style grappling tournaments ever held in Canada. 

Hanshi LaFrance is recognized internationally as a leading authority on grappling, having travelled to many different countries around the world teaching his unique style.

In 1995, Hanshi LaFrance was voted Instructor of the Year by the Canadian Jiu Jitsu Association, and in 2000 was appointed Vice President of the Canadian Jiu Jitsu Association.

As head coach and instructor of the three time World Champion Canadian Grappling Team, Hanshi guided the team to gold medals at the 1998 French Convention, the 1999 Quebec Convention, and the 2000 WKF Austrian World Cup without losing a single match.

SENSEI
SCOTT TAYLOR

Sensei Scott Taylor has been studying Kumo Jiu Jitsu for well over ten years. 

Sensei Scott currently holds the rank of third degree black belt in Kumo Jiu Jitsu, has a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and is St. John’s Ambulance First Aid and CPR-C certified.

He has had the opportunity to train with several UFC fighters including George St. Pierre, Jo “Daddy” Stevenson, Gray “The Bully” Maynard, and Brandon “The Truth” Vera.

Sensei Scott is a Certified Level 3 – Senior Instructor of Kumo Jiu Jitsu.

SENSEI
DAVID LAFRANCE

Sensei David LaFrance has been training in Kumo Jiu Jitsu ever since he could walk. He has trained closely with his father, Hanshi LaFrance, throughout his life. He has been teaching Jiu Jitsu since he was 16 and is currently the main instructor at Kumo Jiu Jitsu. 

David has attended many events, seminars & conventions that have contributed to his growth as a student and an instructor. Sensei David has experience working with all age groups, from young children and youth to adults, and is equipped to meet each of their teaching needs. 

Sensei David holds his 2nd Dan in Kumo Jiu Jitsu and is preparing for his 3rd Dan.

SEMPI
NICHOLAS GARACCI

Sampai Nicholas Garacci has been studying Kumo Jiu Jitsu since 2009.

He specializes in training youth with intellectual disabilities and works frequently with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and youth in conflict. Nick demonstrates exceptional knowledge of his craft and utilizes mindfulness techniques to teach people of all ages efficiently and effectively.
